Shedding Light on the Shades
We wanted to share information about the Shades Kickstarter so you know what to expect from the campaign. We can’t wait for it all to kick-off and for you to see what we’ve got in store!
Dates and Times
The campaign begins at 4pm BST on 10th October and ends at 9pm BST on 26th October. The complete new set is priced at £165 and we hope to include free Kickstarter Exclusive minis and other items along with this if stretch goals are met. You can however back for as little as £1 to gain access to the Pledge Manager and add-on whatever you choose including any Kickstarter Exclusives which are unlocked – but of course the more you all back, the more we unlock.
The Range
There are eight new box sets in this Kickstarter, which will allow you to try out many flavours of Shades with different keywords and strategies to build around. Existing Commonwealth, Dominion, and Leshavult players will spot some dual faction characters in the mix, so you all have something to play with!
This should be a very solid foundation for the faction, but it isn’t the end of the Shades range. We have plenty planned for the future, including more dual faction characters, and will have enough to fill a third book along with further expansions to the other three factions.
Stretch Goals
There are three stretch goals on our Kickstarter page at the point of launch. We have a lot more ideas to tempt you with and will keep adding them if the amount raised goes up so check back often. Many of these ideas are likely to be Kickstarter Exclusives.
Delivery
We’re aiming to deliver the Kickstarter items to backers around May 2024.
None of the new Shades sets will be available to buy after the conclusion of the Kickstarter until all rewards are distributed to Backers and we’ve had a period of restocking. We feel it’s paramount that Backers who pledge in advance to make this all possible are the first to receive the items!
Adding on Existing Minis
Our whole range will be available as add-ons during the Pledge Manager if you want to save on shipping. You will have to wait for the Kickstarter to deliver though to benefit from this. If you don’t want to wait, then you can always order existing items separately from our webstore.
Why Kickstart?
While we are able to do two or three new releases direct to retail each year to expand established factions, the most we can finance at a time is around 4-6 new models. We wanted to launch this new faction in a way that gives Shades players an even footing against established factions, but that comes with a lot of upfront cost. Kickstarter allows us to do this, and at the same time is also a great opportunity to connect with new players and expand the reach and awareness of the game.
