Peggy
At first glance, Peggy is very similar to Swash; 2" melee range, cutlass, pistol and the same wounds and energy distribution.
If needs be, Peggy can therefore act as a backup to Swash if he's unable to help. In a combat capacity though, their main differences are Peggy's lack of a buckler, lower melee, a more aggressive signature and the 'Slow' passive ability. One thing she does have over Swash in a combat role is her increased arcane making her a better pistol shot. However, her main use comes from her amazing passive and excellent active movement abilities.
‘Treasure Map’
'Treasure Map' is a unique ability that will come in effect after deployment, but just before the first turn. With this, a pirate can make a jog and therefore reposition itself just before the game truly starts. This could be a big melee threat like Crusty or Swash to scare your opponent away or possibly a model with plenty of energy like Stu or the Powder Monkey to harvest a stone far up the board early. Whatever model you choose, the model will be quite isolated from the rest of your troupe and so will need to be relatively self-sufficient. They will also need to keep an eye out for enemy arcane actions as starting 4" further up the board is 4" closer to ranged threats like the Flintlock and lure-based models like Boom Boom McBoom.
Another great target for this is Swigarty Swooty. Apart from allowing him to be in a better position for harvesting it also allows him to start further up the board. This is fantastic for Swigarty as the main limiting factor on 'Luv'a da booty' is the range and the fact that Swigarty will normally be slow and shuffling along at the back with a pile of moonstones. This bonus energy can be especially valuable in a pirate list with Swash, Powder Monkey and Peggy as it will often not contain El Capitano and his energy aura due to a lack of goblin pirates. The fact that 'Luv'a da booty' is limited to granting energy only after melee attacks is also far less limiting now. This is as Peggy and Swash are always looking to make melee attacks, unlike some goblin pirates who would sometimes need to hide away from big melee threats like Baron Von Fancyhat. Swigarty Swooty can therefore provide the energy El Capitano normally would whilst Peggy can cover his movement abilities. Speaking of movement abilities...
‘X Marks the Spot’
If 'Treasure Map' wasn't enough, Peggy also has an active ability to move her fellow pirates around. If the free bonus jog from 'Treasure map' doesn't quite get your chosen model into contact with a moonstone, Peggy can target that moonstone with 'X marks the spot'. This ability will allow all pirates within 4", to move 1" closer to it, potentially getting a model in base contact before they activate. As well as targeting moonstones on the board this can also target enemies in possession of a stone. This can therefore be used to get your pirates on top of stones for an easy harvest or against enemies with stones to swarm them with swathes of 2" melee zones!
