Equinox Games
Quicker - Tougher - Spellier
Every four years, people across Tauber celebrate the end of hostilities between the Commonwealth and Dominion through the Equinox Games. These Games were first held in the month of Wyvernlaud in 1012, eight months after the Equinox Accords were signed, and were designed so that the different factions could show their prowess off of the battlefield. The hope was the frustrations from previous years would diminish with unifying Games to keep people entertained.
The original events were 500ft running, 5,000ft flying (Faeries only), wrestling, archery, and fencing. The different races competed separately, with winners of each event coming together to compete against each other in grand finals. The Games lasted for a few days, touring around Tauber for the events to take place at different locations, and was a good excuse for people to celebrate.
In 1036 the Leshavult were invited to join - with both the Cultists and Worshippers of Lesh brought together under the same banner. A symbol of joined yellow, blue and green circles was revealed to reflect unity across the factions and unity across Tauber.
Over time further events were added, with the 32nd (darts) added twelve years ago. Dedicated sports grounds have now been built, allowing the Games to be attended by more people while still letting it move around Tauber.
This year (1148) is an Equinox Games year! People have been putting out banners, hanging ribbons, and gathering together feasts to celebrate. Bets have been placed on who will win the games and children have drawn posters of their favourite athletes. Who will win? We’ll have to wait and see!
