Easter on Tauber
The inhabitants of Tauber have spring holiday know as Oeseed, or Eggstone, on the final day of the month of Harecuff that has some similarities to our Easter.
Throughout the month jackalopes become particularly hostile and folk that live near their burrows dare not go outside alone. Not only is it the time for creating baby jackalope, but the creatures become obsessed with stealing eggs and aggressively protect their hoards. It’s only the fauns who seem to know what’s going on, but they don’t share their secrets.
Most folk celebrate Eggstone during Harecuff too, giving each other painted wooden eggs for luck and prosperity. Gnomes have even developed a special egg-shaped cake that has become popular throughout Tauber, so those are often given instead.
On Eggstone itself dozens of lanterns appear throughout the countryside. These lanterns are formed from painted eggs, often blue ones although pastel pink and yellow appear too, with small candles in their bases. These jackalope lanterns are said to lead children and wayward folk into the woods, and they are never seen again.
