Ace of Shades Event
On 26th October I hosted the eighth installment of my ‘Mayhem & Mischief’ tournaments: the Ace of Shades!
32 players gathered at Bristol Independent Gaming for 4 rounds of Moonstone-y goodness. Amongst the 64 games played throughout the day, much madness entailed! Beast catapulting Hogswash into a pond, Revenant fulfilling his destiny by killing a Psychopomp, and the final game of the day ended with the final survivors of a brutal fight: Eric the Enlightened and Shabaroon, finishing each other off in Melee! Fun was had by all and I personally can't wait to run the next one already!
In the end though one player emerged with 4 wins and no losses to his name: Paul Murphy took the event with his Leshavult Cultists, winning ‘best in faction’ as well. In second, with the first ever ‘best in faction’ for Shades at Mayhem & Mischief, was Andy Tutton with his Risen list. Mr Krunkle followed in third with ‘best in faction’ for Commonwealth' with his Gnomes and Ben Owen won ‘best in faction’ for Dominion with his Nobles! One more victory for the Leshavult also came from Ben Hampshire, whose Leshavult troupe with an amazing autumnal red theme won best painted!

Sometimes goblins be searchin’
On winds of autumn night
So be careful now I urge you
They can cause quite a fright
One time in a small village
None there could have envisaged
As they strolled up to the fight
They'd never been less timid
They went out to stop some goblins
And collect the moonstone too
Mushroom mischief was abound
Oh that mad Shabbaroon
He was flailing, singing, dancing
As crazy goblins do
But crazy goblins still cast spells
Oh if they only knew
With a gurgling cry of who-knows-what
They all thought he'd lost the plot
‘Til up into their flank, “Surprise!”
Flame burst out towards their eyes
And then the Vicious Syd attacked!
Brunhilda couldn't handle that
She fell into the fallen leaves
The armoured goblin chased with glee
Then Pubert charged into the fight
With Fritz his nerve now shattered
Backed off from the goblin knight
Who left Agatha battered
The lot of them in disarray
With goblins all around
Fritz now stepped up to the fray
Before hitting the ground
Now Doug was also bested
As the Firespitter roared
And Quack then ran off screaming
Much to grubby green applaud
Only a gnome left standing
Only Young Jack was left
He went in to duel with Syd
And he put him to the test
His opponent now defeated
His fellow friends retreated
That Young Jack he grabbed two stones
And found his feet were fleeting
The goblins simply let him leave
No chase, no running after
They had a hoard of five whole stones
They harvested with laughter
What a mess that night had been
The Commonwealth left bruised
So now be cautious when they say
There's goblins on the loose
